I can't believe that! I've set in my localconf.php
  $TYPO3_CONF_VARS['BE']['accessListRenderMode'] = 'checkbox';
as you suggested ... and voila, most of my sugggestions are already
there!

Thanks a lot.

As I'm working for 6 months now with Typo3 and did not stumble
into a documentation for that, where could I have found that?
