[Typo3-dev] Uploading many files. Zip it?

Hi all,

Sometimes when you have to upload several files to the fileadmin, I find
the file upload system too annoying.
Unless I missed something, you'll have to select each an every file you
which to upload. Now if you want to upload - let's say - 23 files it's a
very inconvenient/cumbersome way to do it.

1. suggestion:
You might not like it, because it's probably only IE compatible.
But the easiest way to many users, would be a drag-and-drop
functionality, where you can drag from a folder in windows directly to
your browser window. I think this could be accomplished in ActiveX. At
least I have seen ActiveX examples of being able to browse your locale
harddrive in the internet browser window, then mark the files you want
to copy and drag-and-drop them to an upload field.
I don't think could be accomplished by FireFox or whatever, - but you
are welcome to prove me wrong :-)

2. suggestion:
Most people should be able to zip some files, - if not - they should be
able to learn it.
This idea is, that when you are in the fileadmin, you click at the
folder icon and instead of choosing upload files, you choose 'extract
zipfile'. Then you choose the zip file from your computer locally and
it's decompressed in the selected folder.

Of course there might be some ftp-browser extensions for Typo3 that does
something like this. But I think we need an integrated and simple
solution for Typo3 that every be-user should be able to use.

What do you think?

Best Regards,
