[Typo3-dev] How to use "COLLATE" in the sql-functions of tslib_pibase and derivates without changing the code

Hi list,

i'm trying to use the sql-statement "COLLATE" with alternative charsets 
with the sql-functions of tslib_pibase. But when i try to put it on the 
where clause (e.g. by the $this->internal or direct through the 
function-call) i'm getting an error that the sql-statement could not be 
proceeded by the database.

So i need to know how i can use the "COLLATE"-statement in the correct 
way with the tslib-pibase-class or it's derivates in the plugins.
