Why? I certainly have and will again submit RFE (request for 
enhancements). But I think before doing so a post to this newsgroup is 
needed. To discuss the proposed patch.

But this *is* the right group to suggest such changes. The biggest 
problem now is that most of the core devs seem to hide (or at least 
lurk). Also devs that don't belong to the inner circle may have good ideas.

Tapio, me and others have a right to suggest (and to fork). That doesn't 
mean our suggestions have to be in the core.
