The post wasn't meant real (or at least half real).
Normally TYPO3 shouldn't notice anything about talking to a cluster or not.
TYPO3 asks the cluster for data and get's it.
If this data is coming from a single DB server or localhost or some 
cluster at the other side of the world doesn't count for TYPO3.

So all in all it should be possible to use mysql clusters.
My original intention with the posting was to clarify that building a 
cluster is an option but it might be cheaper, more reliable and less 
hassle to build one high end server.
