[Typo3-dev] Colorpicker?

Just a short question?
I spent some time on the colorpicker to make it something useful and working
this where you can use a custom image to select colors like you do with the
colorpicker in photoshop more than a year ago.
Could someone please explain to me why now some sort of javascript based
solution is implemented that isn't flexible at all and only offring a small
bunch of colors?
