Let me remind you that IE will not increase font-size if px is in the CSS !

AFAIK Opera and Firefox (for sure) are able to override px but not IE 6...

So if you want 100% control from browser, you should use "%" or "em".

Right now it's not a priority from my side but once government and
accessibility guys jump in, things could change a bit...
