[Typo3-dev] The concept of a "block" - suggestions needed.

Other CMS'es refer to this kind of content as blocks as opposed to modules,
but basically its just a content element. Having made an extension one can
make a COA or a RECORD-object to display for example the ten latest listings
from the extension.

If I would like to have this available as a content element in a drop-down
box u can insert on a page - what would be the best way to go about that ?

Just take the Typoscript that would normally be inserted on a page, make an
extension with just the Typoscript code and make it a frontend plugin as a
content element in for example the Menu drop-down-box ?
