Right now the project "workflow" ist still based on the workflow-paper
rene and daniel created a while ago.

Personally I want to write my final universal-exam about typo3 and
worflow. But I am behind timeline four months by now already. :-< I will
need to start by the end of march at latest, had a look at about two
dozens of workflow servers/applicatiosn formal represantations by now
and also had some talks with Rene and Daniel.

Basicly I think the ideas pretty much match yours. For the question
about "rewrite" or"integrating existing workflow-engine" personally I am
still not really 100% convinced. Rene and Daniel strongly favor the
integration of an existing engine, which would most probably be
implemented in java, since we don't know a standard-conform php-enigne.

For example Enhydra-shark is a java-based workflow engine, implementing
wfmc standards that is imho worth taking a closer look.

I will put as much information as possible up on
http://www.niekom.de/t3workflow.0.html
real soon(promised that before :-<)

Also I try to keep in touch with Dan Frost who is in the process of
developping some workflow-approach also.

Maybe it is time and worth setting up an own typo3-workflow ML?

Cheers,
