[Typo3-debian] Update MySQL 3.23.49 -> 4.0.24 from dotdeb for versioning?

Hi,

to use the versioning of typo3 on my debian woody server I have to 
update mysql because there is still 3.23.49 used.

On dotdeb is version 4.0.24 available. I read that version 4.1.11, which 
is also available there, is not recommended.

Is there any experience on this update?
Or are there other possibilities to update my good old woody safe?
Dont say "goto sarge" please... ;-)
