[Typo3-UG Berlin] Newbee needs help for transfering a Site from 3.5.0 to 3.6.1

Hello colleagues,

I'm new in the Typo3 community and need help for switching a complete 
site from a windows platform (Typo3.5.0) to a new machine (Linux: Suse9 
and Typo 3.6.1). The site under 3.5.0 was developed by a colleague who 
has left us 6 month ago. My first idea was to drop the database on the 
windows machine and to import it on the Linux system. Then I copied all 
files in the windows fileadmin directory to the linux machine.
When I start an explorer with the new site-address I got following 
error message:

   Error!
The requested page didn't have a proper connection to the tree-root!
(Broken rootline)

What did I wrong?
Is the database structure changed from 3.5.0 to 3.6.1? Or is a 
workaround for transfering a site available?
Any suggestions are welcome ;-)
