This would be an average of 3,26 EU per day and this will definitely not
work in France!
Even in Germany it would be hard to acchieve although we've got the lowest
prices for food compared to other western european countries.

I would like to prepare my own food too, not to make it cheaper but more
flexible.
As far as I understood there is a kitchen in each of the apartments so you
could easily prepare whatever you like whenever you like. If there is at
least one guy in the apartment who is able to cook this shouldn't be a big
problem.
The only problem you might run into is the fact that most of the stores up
there will be much more expensive than the average stores in France, which
are already expensive compared to german prices. So if you don't bring your
food with you, it might cost more than the half board.
But maybe you can find some people and make a deal with them:
You cook for them, if they pay the food.
Anybody interested?
