So, we will do this next year including reminding people a few weeks in 
advance so we don't depend on an announcement that is 6 months old.

However, I think it would be nice to at least admit and regret that it wasn't 
completely fair this year although it is too late to change.

Right, and Mathias has a point about the event being too impersonal with a big 
size. However, I think it is a lack of creativity if we don't want to address 
the question how we can ALSO serve those people who are always not making it. 
Two snowboard tours, one DE/AU/CH, one international? A summer event? Maybe 
the dev-days will help it? I don't know, but simply signing off means we are 
wasting the growth opportunity it also is to invite people into the community 
by these events (and we know how much it means to put faces on emails!)
