Straps + 1.
Regarding metal: almost all brands that used metal are now back to polyamid
or even carbon. Metal is not automatically more resistant, it depends on the
use and construction, plus metal is less flexible is likely to harm your
board when punched hard. That said, Ride is a company by an ex Burton guy,
so they probably now what they are doing :-)
Another thing I want to add: if you go for straps, try one of those cap
straps-equipped bindings by Burton, they make a huge difference to your toes
and drag you heel firmly into the highback.
Next weekend it's mountain freak opening on zugspitze!
