Dear,
as probably most of you already know the upcoming release of Flow will
be versioned 3.0 because it incorporates some major changes.
This has a few consequences:
* If you're one of the brave "bleeding-edgers", working on master: watch
out for recent breaking changes [1] and be prepared for some
instabilities in the next few days. If you pull in changes, make sure to
update *all* of the packages as some of the changes span over multiple.
Or, safer yet, wait until the first (beta) releases. In any case make
sure to flush caches and run core and doctrine migrations after updating.
* As Neos depends on the upcoming version of Flow, it will also get a
new major version. Namely 2.0
Timeline:
We had a "Feature Freeze" for both versions on sunday. That doesn't mean
that there is no chance for new features or behavioral changes to make
it in until the final release. But we concentrate on *stabilization* and
*documentation* as of now.
Possibly breaking changes and new features should be coordinated with
Robert and me (RMs of the upcoming Neos and Flow versions).
We home on a first beta release of Neos 2.0 and Flow 3.0 by *next week*
and then another beta release roughly every 2 weeks until the products
are stable enough for the final release (hint: you can help speeding up
that process by testing and reporting bugs [2]).
If you think we're missing a crucial issue, feel free to mention it here
(or drop me a mail at bastian(at)typo3.org).
We'll come up with more details about the release plan asap.
