[Neos] Image content node and animated gifs?

Hello there,

 I tried to use a animated gif in an image content node on some page,
however once I upload the file or select it in the media browser (where
the animation still exists by the way), the animation seems to get lost
at some point and a copy of the file (same also used as the thumbnail in
the inspector) without the animation is used in frontend output. :(
Is there a way to use the 'original' file (or any copy that still has
the animation)?
