Just as a clarification, Symfony is not a dependency of Flow, we just
use a few packages with basic functionality.

If you look at the TYPO3 Flow website it even states that it requires
minimum PHP 5.3.3 (which is already very old). In the mid term we want
to raise it to 5.4.x in one of the next versions (not THE next).
PHP 5.3.2 is extremely outdated, not only in terms of features but also
bug/security fixes. You shouldn't run any production system with that.
Cheers,
Christian
