Hi Jul, Hi Pankaj,
thanks for your responses. I got it fixed, though I can't really tell, what was the actual problem. In my original setup resetting the file permissions again and again with all possible variations had no effect. And silencing the PHP warnings did not seem to be a good and sustainable solution. So I setup an AMP environment using the built-in Apache and PHP installations on Mac. So probably it was the PHP version which caused the problem (my MAMP installation had 5.3.2, now I'm running 5.3.15). My MAMP installation was also a little bit outdated - maybe the problem was coming from there in some way or the other. Could also be that a general problem with the MAMP Apache users and groups configuration existed. Can't tell yet, though I'm planning to investigate further.
@Pankaj:
I'm running OS X 10.8.3 (12D78) with Kernel Darwin 12.3.0. So it doesn't look like the Mac version is the problem.
Thanks & regards
Martin

On good Mac file is not there but the warning is converted to an Exception and it is caught.
