[Flow] Excluding a record fom being returned by a query.

I have a tree of categories.

I now want to get all sibling categories, you can see in this gist what I 
have as my repo function:

I then modified it as the $category passed to the function was also of 
course found. I tried to exclude the category but it's didn't work. Can 
anyone comment on my gist and show me how to exclude a particular entity 
from being returned?
