For the record: We won't raise them now, as enforcing a secure operating
system is not our business. And it seemed to be a drawback for a number
of people.

I meant "recompiling manually", i.e. without support from the
distribution. I use MacPorts and everything is compiled, but still not
"under the radar" of the package system. So, I fully agree with you :)
