Your best bet is to get in touch with Julle (julle at typo3.org) - he has
started to work on this in coordination with us and will continue
developing that.

Making this configurable from the package is prepared already.

Hm. I'd rather keep packages separate. But for smaller things… might be
an option. What do the others think?
