[FLOW3-general] which character-set/collation setup to chose for flow3

Hi,
I am currently reconfiguring my database-setup(server/client-connection/
tables) before i reinstall typo3 4.6, flow3 and Phoenix(typo3v5).My sites
will use up to 5 languages. Like many others i use mysql. My server is based
on debian squeeze(mysql 5.1.49, php5(5.3.3),apache 2.2.16).
mysql offers different utf8 flavours. 3 of them meet the requirements of
multilanguage-sites.
utf8_bin
binary, case sensitive but english or language independent sorting order
utf8_general_ci
case insensitive but english or language independent sorting order
utf8_unicode_ci
case insensitive and language dependent sorting order
On Typo3 V4-Sites the most used seems to be "utf8_general_ci" but I like the
idea of case sensitive databases("utf8_bin"), because they reflect the
reality in a better way.
Seaching through the net i found some hints about using utf8_bin for
doctrine. As doctrine represents the persistence-management-layer of flow3
this is an argument to use utf8_bin.
My questions:
Does the utf8 flavour matter at all, given the many layers used in the flow3
framework?
Is case sensitivenes a point to consider?
Are there some caveats in the choice of one of the three?
Many thanks in advance
Christof Adams
