did you also install all PEAR packages as described for example here:

(Sorry that the page is in german and not english, but commands should 
be readable for everybody.) :-)

The "Getting Started" tuturial was written when alpha7 was the current 
version. After that  PHPUnit was used from PEAR and not as FLOW3 subpackage.
