Either the PHP version or the MySQL version should be the problem here. I'm
running a testserver with Apache 2.0.54, PHP 5.1.0RC1 and MySQL 5.0.11 (beta)
on WinXP SP2, and also Apache on Linux and IIS on Windows with PHP 5.0.4.
I know it's not recommended on production servers, but mainly because some
extensions have to be patched.

But the difference between MySQL 4.1.x an 5.0.x are large enough, and could
be the reason (even if I have no problems login in to BE). Downgrading MySQL
to 4.1.12/15 could be a solution.

Else there has been some small problems regarding installation of MySQL on
Windows. The install script on windows gives the opportunity setting some
of the startup variables. And the possibility to get something wrong.

Yana100: There are tools at mysql.com to test/look at the MySQL database
(PHPmyAdmin is another). Else the information in PHPinfo (install tool) could
be helpful.
