[TYPO3-UG UK] MYSQL Database Name

Am trying my first Typo3 install but I have a problem with the database.
My Host has pre-defined the name of the single database available and when
running through the install routine, this name does not appear in the list
of empty databases (as nothing has been connected to the database, I am
assuming it is empty). Is there a way of manually editing one of the config
files to point to this existing database without using the install routine ?
