[TYPO3-UG UK] installing typo3 without root access (ftp)

Dear friend,

is it possible to install typo3 using ftp, that is without 
having root (ssh) access to the server?

The idea is to install it on the development desktop then 
upload it to the server (where we have ftp access).

The database will be generated again on the server.
