[TYPO3-UG US] A few problems with new 4.0 upgrade

Greetings,

I recently upgraded to TYPO3 4.0. Most things are working great, but I have
two problems:

1. I can't seem to get the Extension Manager to access the repository. I
have increased memory in php.ini to 256M, deleted the temp files and tried
both a full list and a search, but the results are always the same. The
Apache error logs show that the script is running out of memory. How much
memory should I need?

2. Every time a page is accessed in the front end, there are four errors
generated:

not exist: /www/dmin/fs/{$page.file.menuBgImg}


Any ideas on what I need to do about this?
