I think this is a really important factor. There is a power dynamic
involved in Typo3, where nonUS folks strongly influence and perhaps control
the direction of Typo3. Such a setup is "foreign" to most people in the US.

Ultimately, I think documentation and support are the most critical aspects
of Typo3 adoption. But I wonder if there is a place where we should also
take on this cultural power issue directly. Perhaps a page on typo3.us or
wherever.

The page would need to be in a location that is targeting U.S. Typo3 folks
(I think it would be less applicable to other countries, but I don't know).
It would need to talk about the dynamic international Typo3 community and
give folks some idea of what to expect as they participate. We are living
in a global world and the strength of Typo3 around the world is a powerful
testimony to its capabilities. I think this is a wonderful opportunity for
U.S. Americans to interact internationally and take a dose of humility,
while benefiting from this powerful tool. But for U.S. Americans, perhaps
we need some remedial help to quickly see the strengths and benefits of this
cultural diversity since it is too often outside of our own experience...
and to be reassured by those of us already in the fold that it is well worth
the effort.
