Hi Prashant,

> 1) Is it possible for us to import various document formats like MS Word and PDF into typo3 which are of nature like product manuals which have interlinking content within the document and to the other documents in the same folder ?

It is possible to import content from Word documents saved as XML. It is
also possible to index and search inside different types of documents
including PDF. I am not sure about what you meant by interlinking.

> 2) As we are a product company, we have extensive designs designed in AutoCad, Cadstart which need to be reviewed. Is it possible for us to import them into typo3 ?

You can add and access them as files using something called DAM.
However, anything more is in the domain of custom development.

> 3) We have a centralized authentification server Redhat Directory Server which gives authorization credentials to all employees. Is it possible to use the above RHDS as a auth server for typo3 ?

Yes, integration of almost of directory servers is possible. However,
your specific needs would decide if you can use a public extension or
you have to develop one.

> 4) Also we would be using this as an extensive ECMS to be used only in intranets ie, some content like product manuals may be published to customers. but most of the content editing / review / etc will be for in-house use. Does typo3 support editing like in-line / online editing like wiki based on the logged in user credentials ?

TYPO3 offers very granular access control mechanism. It could replicate
almost any such structure you have mind.

> 5) is it possible to give fine grained user level security for a page / folder ?

Yes. See above reply. Access can be even granted to some specific page
elements in the same page.

> 6) Is it possible to visualize the workflow ?

You have to explain more about that. However, I currently don't know
about any public extension which does any visualization. Of course, you
can custom develop such a feature.

> 7) what is the learning curve involved for a typo3 ECMS user ?

From an administrator/developer's point of view, very very high. From
the user's point of view, as easy or as difficult as you want it to be.
We have created front end interfaces for some often used parts of TYPO3
and in those cases the editing/publishing team never see the TYPO3 back
end. I would suggest that you look for a TYPO3-savvy partner to guide
and teach you at least in the beginning.

> Please guide me on these aspects ...

Hope this helps.
