[TYPO3-UG Australia] Newbie question - How do you start with Typo3 4.0?

Hi Ingmar,

Thank you very much.

Typo3 version 4.0 with quickstart installed and running with some slight
changes to your script as I am using the tar.gz versions with symlinks.

I suggest updating the Typo3 web site with similar instructions
including that you need to have installed typo3_src-3.8.1 first.

Thanks again

Regards
Steve

Hi Steve,

just download and install the older 3.8.1 quickstart package from
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=20391&package_id=1
5221

After fully installing the old one, upgrade it to 4.0.1.

Upgrading is simple:
 - Remove the folders t3lib, media, tslib and typo3 as well as the files
   index.php and showpic.php from the site root
 - Download typo3_src-4.0.1.zip from http://typo3.org/download/packages/
 - Move the contents of typo3_src-4.0.1.zip into your site folder
 - go into the install tool
	(http://your_typo3_installation/typo3/install/)
	-> database analyzer
		-> update required tables COMPARE
			-> write to DB
		-> static tables IMPORT
			-> write to DB

Voila, you've got a quick start package on an up-to-date 4.0.1 source.

cheers
Ingmar
