Sounds good - just to make sure that I got it right - if someone fixes a 
bug (for 1.4.x) he should apply the update to the 1.4.x branch and to 
the trunk as well (since otherwise it's lost in future versions).

I'd also like to know whether you consider "renew unit tests for the 
API" as a bugfix or a new feature. In my opinion it's a bugfix
  ~ if you agree on this we should add a mantis issue for that.
