I'm working on a Roles v2 which adds some usability improvements - at
least I think so.
What is roles?
Roles makes it possible to mark BE usergroups as roles.
Then a BE user can select which Roles(usergroups) should be active from
the Roles menu. This means that he will only be able to see what's
important. For example if editing the calendar, there are some items in
the mainmenu which are unimportant. Also you only want to see the part
of the pagetree which has to do with the Calendar.
If you want to know more about Roles check out the manual:
http://typo3.org/documentation/document-library/extension-manuals/roles/1.0.2/view/
The improvements:
* Add 'New Record' menuitems to a Role in the Roles menu.
Often a backend user repeats the same task every time he/she logs in -
creating a new record at a specific location (Storage Folder etc).
The feature:
1. Activate edit mode.
2. Select New Record (under a Role).
3. Select location (Storage Folder etc).
4. Select Record (for example a news item).
The new menuitem you have created will:
Create a new record at the location you chose and will change to the
specific Role.
* Add 'BE Shortcut' menuitems to a Role in the Roles menu.
Maybe you often go to a specific storage folder. Then make a BE shortcut
to this folder and create a link to this shortcut under the specific
Role in the Roles Menu.
When you select this menuitem, the shortcut will take you to the page
and the Role is activated.
* And more... :-)
