Hi Mark,

Like some others I have a hard time to follow you on this one. In
fact, reading your reasons for having files attached to pages as a
way of managing large amounts of media typically used once on
individual pages seems like a simpler version of what happens when
you attach a file to a page (the "Media" field) or a content element
("Image") field. In each case the file is copied from fileadmin/ into
the uploads/pics/ folder to form a 1-1 relation with the record. That
must be wonderland for someone having the notion of a connection
between files and records! And that turns out to be how TYPO3 works!

Typically this concept is under attach for the 1-1 relation thing
where you can't share a file between multiple records easily. But
other than that; Files are stricly managed, belongs to the record
they are used with, deleted when records are deleted, is covered by
versioning and workspaces (!) and possible to check integrity on
since the relation is "hard" and not "soft".

Why is this current concept not the answer to your questions?
