My personal view is that TYPO3 cannot continue to grow and develop without a
significant change in motivation. Free radical motivation is not enough so
it must now become like every other successful project structured and money
based.

There are of course many options for financing that the TYPO3 Association
have probably already considered and are currently being dismissed for
various idealistic reasons.

Money remains the single greatest motivator for effort by groups of
individuals who are not already rich either financially or with time.

I think that the userbase of the TYPO3 community has grown in a direction
that was not first envisaged.

Presumably the 99% are users rather than developers and therefore as Joey
rightly points out are not in any position to contribute code.

The developers, as you Kasper rightly point out, are already busy and the
extent of their motivation has been reached.

Don't tell me about the TYPO3 Association - since when did people pay their
taxes voluntarily?

TYPO3 is currently so well developed that it already satisfies the needs of
a very wide range of end users. If TYPO3 the project stops being developed
is it really a big problem? Presumably a corporate would simply pick up the
best bits and develop yet another CMS at an inflated cost.

I see the next phase for TYPO3 is to develop a first class CMS accessible by
all userbases and costing a really tiny amount to purchase. If FireFox were
'sold' for a just 1 Euro would it really diminish the userbase? Not
significantly I think.

Why don't we talk turkey and find a clever and efficient tax for using TYPO3
so we can all be happy.
