the visible navigation.

I know people, that would use one table for all, to use the same
configurable functions. I know people that wan't an own table for each type
of category, to easily keep it apart in the DB. A matter of personal
prefernces.

Mads uses two tables, with the little disadvantage, that you can't access
the page tree with the same tools and methods as the category tree. That
means, that some functionality is to maintain twice, once for the pages
table, once for the category table.

But that are the glory details of technical implementation. The important
point is, to get a good tool running soon. A tool that is maintained amidst
the community and can be accepted as a common base by a majority of
extension developers.
