I just came across this discussion and would like to know which kind of
naming is recommended.
For example I would like to develop a new extension for managing a
sports club because the extension "sportsclub" does not satisfy the
criteria I need. Am I supposed to use "sportsclub_[acronym of my company
or my name]" to distinguish my extension from the existing one or what
is exactly meant by "addonKey"?
There is of course the question if the community actually needs another
sports club extension but that is someting different.

BTW, is there any discussion about the possibility to tag extensions to
make the uncontrolled growth manageable? I think this could be helpful
to get along in the extension jungle.
(Looking for "typo3 extension tag" with Google is a bit useless ;) )

Thanks!

    Michael
