This is not related to any version of TYPO3. Now that it was decided 
that using such a variable is acceptable it could very well go already 
into 4.2. All you need is an extension capable of using this information 
when logging, which is the case for "devlog" (the SVN version).

That being said, what Steffen is working on about extended problem 
reporting should go into 4.3, so this variable should have more 
visibility then.
