I am unable to reproduce this issue. Are you sure the same image is not 
inserted a second time outside the RTE, in a text with image content 
element? If you think there is a bug in the RTE, please report it in the 
bugtracker, making sure to specify the TYPO3 version.

This is the normal behaviour with or without DAM, I think it has always 
been the case. If you think this should be changed, please report it 
also in the bugtracker under the RTE project.
