Hi.<div><br></div><div>Why not making a "virtual" backend layout, used every time a backend_layout can't be found ? It won't need to add something to database, and won't need any wizard updater.</div>

This would require an upgrade wizard to increase the numbers for existing backend_layouts (not a problem, but something which needs to be included).<br>

Would there be many extensions / installations out there which are not compatible with belayout page module rendering?<br>

It would be nice to have again a single rendering method, if it doesn't break too many things.<br>
