Same problem here - we are still using RHEL with PHP 5.1.6, upgrading to 
PHP 5.2.x or 5.3.x is quite impossible. So we ended at 4.2.10 - updating 
  within the 4.2 branch is not possible, to the 4.3 branch is impossible 
too.

So my +1 for this request.
