It's getting OT, but it should be either t3lib_div::mail() or t3lib_Utility_Mail::send(). IMHO
neither "simple" nor "plain" makes any sense here as the function itself doesn't compose the mail.
So how does it know it's a "plain" as in "text/plain" mail?
