Exactly. Which is why I agree with Dmitry. Developers should see those 
left-over markers so that they can clean them up. And if users see them, 
they should complain to the developer.

Maybe one improvement could be to make a list of standard markers used 
in BE templates and give them all a default empty value in template.php
