I read Nils' and Oliver Klee's replies before your post, which is why I
just pointed out to them that hooks are not allowed for 4.1.

Anyway, I for one never really understood why things as simple and
non-obtrusive as hooks should not be added to the stable branch. You
have my support in getting the hook into 4.1, but please wait at least
one week with committing it to 4.1 since other core developers might
object to this.

Direct +1 for trunk.
