Just to clarify this: It's always possible to discuss things like this. Of
course I've made my thoughts about this, but still it doesn't mean that my
opinion is an ultimate decision. Actually I feel a bit scared about the
point that you don't discuss this more although you don't seem to like the
decision that way it was made.

My main point was that there is no strategy about maintaining such an
"oldstable" branch and that it makes no sense in my eyes to release
versions with only half of all fixes applied. It gives me the impression of
a product which is good, but could be better.

The solution to that problem is quite easy however: We can engage
maintainers for every version, like Linus Torvalds did with the 2.2 and 2.4
kernels.

I think we should get back to this at T3DD...
