[Typo3-UG Stuttgart] Problems with "ö" "ä" and so on

Hello List,
I need to install typo3 on FreeBSD 4.9.
Everthing looks good,
but i have some problems with the german "umlaute"
Perhaps anybody has had the same problems?
Or can anyone tell me what [TTFLocaleConv] i can use?
