That's already possible, when you set 
$TYPO3_CONF_VARS['BE']['compressionLevel']:
699K typo3temp/compressor/ext-all-06cae299ee83177fea27d04011eaf321.js
193K typo3temp/compressor/ext-all-06cae299ee83177fea27d04011eaf321.js.gzip

However, I agree that Expires headers should be added (there aren't any!)
