Sounds reasonable.

Would it make sense to release a "HTML 5" extension for 4.5
which could be updated later on and isn't bound to the core itself?
(I'm not exactly sure how it would be done to provide a feature to TYPO3 
version 4.5 specifically ("HTML 5") while being able to maintain it 
independently on the typical major version feature freeze.)
