[TYPO3-v4] l18n_diffsource not working??

I took a look at issue #16003

and noticed that the l18n_diffsource column of pages_language_overlay of 
a freshly translated page contained a serialized array with only 'N' as 
value, a.k.a. NULL values.

In the translated page no diff is shown, because the isset() function in 
t3lib_TCEforms::renderDefaultLanguageDiff() also returns false if the 
variable is null...

I haven't been able to track why l18n_diffsource contains only null 
values in the serialized array, but it seems a rather serious problem.

Any ideas? Can others reproduce this?
