Hi,

just some additional notes. You may think - ok, it's a bit unlucky, who 
cares ...

But think about you are a new user, you don't know how to continue. You 
will be very confused ...

Visit FE: Why? To read the error message?
Visit BE: this could be the simple "Continue ..."
manuel delete of a file? come on, i don't know the filestructure yet, 
... sounds hacky. Suggestion: add a checkbox: delete on continue
Password change? Why not let him do this right now there with only these 
fields?
power user mode? oh no. But something is missing: IM/GM, without it no 
pics will be resized. A typical beginner error ;) Where is the wizard?

Ok, we have the introduction package, but without this could be the end 
ot first steps with TYPO3
