[TYPO3-mvc] f:format.date ViewHelper Localizeable

Hi,

is the f:format.date ViewHelper localizeable or do i have to write my own? I have allready set all options in php.ini, typo3 TS to de_DE and set the timezone. But \DateTime still formats english strings.

I think this is not Extbase related, more a general Unix/Apache question - but i think someone here is able to help me :)
